Every website owner wants to be at the top of Google's search results. It's not as easy as it looks, though. That's why search engine optimization (SEO) has become so important in recent years.

At Webador, we're doing our best to make sure all our websites place as high as possible in search engine results. Every Webador website is automatically given a sitemap and search engine-friendly HTML code, as well as being fully optimized for mobile devices. All of this contributes to a higher rank in search results.

There are also a number of other ways to make your website more search engine friendly:

1. Include keywords in text

Text on your website is one of the most important factors in determining its placement in search engine results. Which keywords are relevant to your company? And which keywords are your visitors typing into Google to reach your website? Use these keywords in your text wherever possible. You should also enter alternative text for any images on your website via the image settings.

Keep in mind that only 'real text' matters to search engines. Word or PDF files are not replacements for website text, and Google won't recognize them. This can also reduce your rank in search results.

2. Use the 'page title' and 'description' fields

Your website most likely consists of multiple pages. Each page has its own subject, as well as unique text and different images. To make sure these pages place higher in search results, Webador users can add a title and description for each page. These texts will also be counted by Google and other search engines.

Tip: You can also add titles and descriptions to products and blog posts.

3. Make important pages easily accessible

Make sure the most important pages on your website can be access easily by your visitors, ideally with 1 or 2 clicks. Why is this important? The more visits a page receives, the higher it ranks in search results.

To improve a page's accessibility, you can opt to make it a menu item. You can even add a link to text on your homepage, which optimizes the text while also making another page more accessible.

4. Stay active on your website

Staying active isn't just important for your placement in search results, it also boosts visitor retention. A website that never has anything new simply isn't that interesting.

So, keep adding new texts, images, even pages - not only will you maintain a good rank in search results, your visitors will keep coming back!

Tip: A blog is a good way to add new content to your website on a regular basis.

5. Use your own domain name

Besides adding a professional touch to your website, a good domain name improves your rank in search results. Google and other search engines generally prefer websites with their own domain name over free subdomains. Choosing a good domain name can be challenging, however - it should be easy to read, easy to remember, and not too long.

Among many other benefits and extra features, Webador Pro and Business plans include a free domain name.

Note: Remember to be patient - after implementing the above tips, it may take a while before you see concrete results!
