There are a number of ways to set shipping fees for products in your online store. You can opt to use basic or advanced shipping methods.

✔  Tip:  As an online store owner, shipping fees are a smart way to pass on any costs you incur to your customers. Be careful, though - using too many shipping rates can make this tricky.

Basic shipping methods

With basic shipping methods, the shipping fees are determined per product. This means you can create multiple shipping methods and, when adding a product, select the shipping method you want to use for that product. Your customers will only ever see one shipping option - the one you set.

For orders with multiple products, the most expensive shipping method automatically applies. For example, if a customer orders Product A, for which the shipping fee is €2.95, and Product B, for which the shipping fee is €5.95, the customer will pay €5.95 in shipping fees.

Note: When using basic shipping methods, the shipping fee does not increase when a customer orders more than 1 of the same item. So, if a customer orders 1, 2, or 10 of Product B, the shipping fee will always be €5.95.

Advanced shipping methods

With advanced shipping methods, the shipping fee is calculated based on the destination country or the total weight of the package. Your customers can choose from several shipping options.

Use advanced shipping methods if you want to set different shipping fees per country, or if you want the maximum fee to be applied when calculating based on weight. For example, if a customer orders 1 item, the shipping fee based on weight will be cheaper than if the customer ordered 10 of the same item.
